Shoppers hit the mall for Labor Day sales
Labor Day is meant to honor the country's workforce, but for many shoppers it's also a time to take advantage of door-busters and deep discounts.
News 12 spoke to shoppers who were scooping up holiday deals Monday at the Mall at Bay Plaza in Co-op City. Many bargain hunters lined up outside the mall before the doors opened to take advantage of sales.
Many shoppers said they planned to clear the shelves of items like uniforms, belts and shirts for the new school year.
Store owners said they hoped to do away with hot-weather items like swimsuits before the fall season. They also said they were looking for a business bump to carry them to Black Friday in November.
