Crowds, costumes mark West Indian Day Parade in BK

The much-anticipated West Indian Day Parade made its way down Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn Monday.

The parade featured music, dancing and food like jerk chicken, pork and other West Indian dishes.

Paradegoers told News 12 the highlight of the parade has always been the dazzling costumes, and they say this year did not disappoint.

The lead-up to the parade was marred by some violence. In the hours ahead of the festivities, a man was fatally stabbed in Brooklyn and several shootings were reported, including one that critically wounded a lawyer for the state's economic development agency.
