Mayor Bill de Blasio was featured on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," to address concerns on the homeless, universal pre-K and crime in the city.

The mayor defended the NYPD, despite a rise in the number of homicides in the city.

"We have had the safest summer in over 20 years," he said. "Last year, we had the lowest number of murders in 50 years. We've had precisely 10 more murders than last year. That's 10 more than I accept, but its only 10."

The mayor also talked baseball, and said he supports the New York Mets.

He recently attended games at Citi Field when the Mets played the Red Sox. He's been known for his allegiance to Boston's team, but de Blasio said he's hoping for a subway series with the Yankees in this year's World Series.
