Trash troubles plague Tremont neighborhood
Residents in Tremont are demanding something be done with a piece of property that they say has been used as a dumping ground for two decades.
Mounds of garbage are piled up behind the Eagle gas station located at East 181st Street and Webster Avenue. From bottles and cans, to debris from surrounding apartments, residents in the area say they've had enough and they're demanding it be cleaned up.
News 12 reached out to the Department of Sanitation, which says it is private property that the department has no control over.
Officials say they unsuccessfully tried to contact the super at 2120 Tiebout Ave. where the trash is located.
