Bronx park hosts 'Vitilla Classic'
A Dominican tradition has taken over Macombs Dam Park in the Bronx. "Vitilla," or Dominican baseball, is a popular game played with broomsticks and plastic bottle caps from 5-gallon water bottles.

A Dominican tradition has taken over Macombs Dam Park in the Bronx.
"Vitilla," or Dominican baseball, is a popular game played with broomsticks and plastic bottle caps from 5-gallon water bottles.
Red Bull hosted the vitilla tournament in the park Sunday. It is the first time the Vitilla Classic has come to the United States.
People in the Dominican Republic began playing the game in the 1970s because they could not afford baseball equipment.
Organizers say the tournament featured teams from across the country.
They say they chose the Bronx to debut the game because of its huge Dominican population.
