The East Coast is breathing a sigh of relief as Hurricane Joaquin tracks far east of the seaboard, but parts of the city are still dealing with the effects of a separate coastal storm.

The rain is tapering off in the area, but strong winds will remain today with gusts of 15 to 35 mph. Flooding is also a concern in low-lying coastal areas along the Sound.

Spotty showers could still hit through Saturday afternoon, and the wind and cloudy skies will remain in place. Temperatures will be in the mid- to low-50s today.

Sunday will be mostly cloudy with highs in the low 60s. Monday will be partly sunny and breezy with highs in the mid-60s.

Hurricane Joaquin, meanwhile, caused some damage in the Bahamas before heading out east to sea. Roofs were damaged and trees were uprooted, and a cargo ship remains unaccounted for. The Coast Guard is searching for the ship, which had 33 crew members aboard, including 28 Americans.
