Grandmother decries condition of apartment

A Bronx grandmother is fed up with conditions at her Morrisania apartment.

A gaping hole, bathroom leaks, mold and bed bugs are just some of the conditions that Yolanda Perez says she is dealing with. The hole in her grandson's bedroom extends through the outer wall of the building and can be seen from outside.

Perez says she has found bed bugs on one of her grandchildren and that her 5-year-old grandchild is now staying with another relative because of conditions in her apartment.

According to Perez, she has been dealing with some of these problems for 10 years.

The New York City Housing Authority says it will cover the hole and address the mold problem, which Perez says has caused health problems for her. NYCHA says it will schedule an exterminator for the bed bugs next week.

Still, Perez says she wants to move to another apartment.
