International Walk to School Week kicks off

The Department of Transportation celebrated International Walk to School Week.

Throughout the week students in New York City are participating in classroom and hands on events with city officials, teachers, and volunteers.

The events include different types of traffic safety activities geared toward helping kids walk to school safely.

The DOT says that International Walk to School Week teaches kids the health and environmental benefits of walking to school and how to get to school safely.
