Mayor de Blasio praises new NYPD guidelines

Mayor Bill de Blasio praised the new "use of force" guidelines Thursday at the NYPD graduation ceremony.

"What you hear a lot is officers, like any other professionals, want clarity. They want a clear set of rules, they want training that helps them live by those rules, and a reporting mechanism that shows that they did follow those rules. And that's what the commissioner has achieved," says Mayor de Blasio.

Police commissioner William Bratton announced changes to the department's use-of-force training protocol last year following the death of Eric Garner on Staten Island.
