Suspects attack woman during attempted robbery

Police are asking for the public's help as they search for the suspects who violently attacked a woman during an attempted robbery.

Officials say the incident happened at around 3 a.m. Saturday morning near Prospect and Westchester avenues.

Police say the group of suspects walked up to the 60-year-old victim, put her in a chokehold and tried to steal her purse.

The woman eventually broke free, but as she ran away one of the suspects tracked her down and kicked her in the leg.

The victim fell and snapped her wrist.

Officials say the suspects ran from the scene empty handed. They say the victim was treated at a hospital for her injury and has since been released.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
