A man was sentenced Wednesday in connection with a 2012 armed robbery that led to the accidental shooting death of a victim by police.

Christopher Dorsey faces 10 years in prison and five years of post-release supervision. He was 17 years old at the time of the crime.

The victim's sister, Nicole Cuevas, delivered a stirring speech to the courtroom, calling for a response from the officer who shot her brother and accepting Dorsey's apology. She says the family has made repeated attempts to contact that officer but has not heard back.

News 12 previously reported that Dorsey and two others were arrested on charges of second-degree murder for their roles in the robbery.

Police say the men held Reynaldo Cuevas, 20, at gunpoint while they robbed the store at 169th Street and Franklin Avenue on Sept. 7, 2012. Cuevas was able to flee but was accidentally shot and killed by a responding police officer.
