Motorcyclist badly injured in taxi collision
Police are investigating a motorcycle accident in Claremont that left a man in critical condition Tuesday morning.
According to officials, the incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. when a 26-year-old man was riding his motorcycle down Washington Avenue and sideswiped a livery cab by East 171st Street.
The man then crashed his motorcycle into a large piece of construction equipment right next to Jardin De La Familia Park.
Police say the motorcyclist is at Lincoln Medical Center in critical condition.
The driver of the livery cab told News 12 that he was transporting someone and was parked at a red light when the motorcyclist came speeding down the road. He says he and his passenger were not hurt, and there was minimal damage to his car.
The taxi driver also told News 12 that motorcyclist was badly injured when EMS transported him to the hospital, but that he was wearing a helmet.
Police are continuing to investigate the accident.
