A woman was fatally shot in Allerton in broad daylight Thursday, police say.
Investigators say that the victim was shot in the torso on Waring Avenue near the Pelham Bay Houses.
Police say the victim is believed to be in her 20s. EMS workers unsuccessfully tried to resuscitate her.
Witnesses say they heard about five to eight shots at around 3 p.m. and saw the woman convulsing and bleeding afterward.
Police interviewed residents at 955 Waring Ave. as part of the investigation, but say the gunman is still on the loose.
