Video depicts officer tossing S. Carolina student

Authorities are investigating an online video that appears to show a South Carolina high school student being tossed across a classroom floor.

Cellphone video appears to capture Deputy Ben Fields asking a female student to get up from her desk. When she does not get up, he can be seen wrapping his arm around her neck before tipping the desk and throwing her across the floor.

Moments later, the deputy has the girl in handcuffs.

The Richland County sheriff says the student was being disruptive in class. The officer involved has since been reassigned.

School officials are investigating the incident.
