Wallace Ave. tenants bemoan broken elevator
Tenants in a Wallace Avenue building say their elevator has been down for five months.
Many of the residents say they must climb between four and six flights of stairs every day at 2714 Wallace Ave. Some are senior citizens and others have disabilities.
Williams Burns, 86, says it takes him about 30 minutes to climb the stairs to his apartment.
Residents of the building say they feel like nothing gets fixed because building managers don't seem to care. The lock on the building's front door is also broken.
The building management firm says it reached out to three different firms to repair the elevator. The first company made faulty repairs, the second refused the job and the third has started from scratch.
