City looks to build new BX community center
The city is seeking proposals to develop a community center in Edenwald at 229th Street, a project many have been petitioning for years.
The proposed property is 27 acres, and belongs to the city's Administration of Children's Services.
While many residents agree with the plan to build a new community center, other residents say another community center down the block needs the city's attention as well.
Another challenge is that the city will have to figure out how to open the center to the public while keeping kids in a nearby special needs school safe.
