Wake held for Halloween crash victim
A wake was held Tuesday for a man who was fatally struck by a vehicle on Halloween in Morris Park.
Services for 24-year-old Kristian Leka were held at Farenga Brothers Funeral Home on Allerton Avenue. He will be laid to rest tomorrow.
Leka and two others, 65-year-old Louis Perez and his granddaughter, 10-year-old Nyanna Aquil, were killed Saturday when the driver of a black Dodge Charger plowed into a group of trick-or-treaters on a sidewalk.
Many people from the Albanian community attended Leka's wake to show their support and comfort the family.
"As an Albanian community we know each other even if we don't personally know them. I know they are a great family and the kid was such a wonderful kid, hard worker, family kid. I mean you couldn't find anybody better," says Simon Qafa, who came to show his support for the family.
Authorities believe a medical emergency may have led to the crash, as the 52-year-old driver has a history of seizures.
There is no word yet on when services will be held for the two other victims.
