School scaffolding causes concern for parents
Scaffolding surrounding P.S. 55 is causing concern among parents who think it is a danger to their kids.
Parents say scaffolding has spanned the school's perimeter for nearly two years, and they have not seen a single construction worker in over a year. They also say it obstructs the view of surveillance cameras, which has led to cars being burglarized.
The concerned parents tell News 12 that the school's principal has been trying to have the scaffolds removed, but keeps hitting obstacles, although he has not given specifics.
Aside from the safety issue, parents say the school has the funds to build a playground in its rear, but can't because of the scaffolds.
News 12 reached out to the Department of Education for comment, but has not yet heard back.
