Manhattan College honors fallen grad with play
Manhattan College hosted a theatrical performance Wednesday to pay tribute to an alumnus who became an FDNY lieutenant and died in the Sept. 11 attacks.
Officials say Joseph Leavey graduated Manhattan College in 1977 with a degree in civil engineering.
"The Guys" is a play based on a true story of the aftermath of the attacks. In it, an FDNY captain eulogizes eight of his former firefighters - his guys.
Some of the proceeds from the performance were donated to the Joseph Leavey Foundation, which funds scholarships and community outreach.
"The Guys" will also be performed in Pelham, where Leavey lived and grew up.
