Organizers behind a new master barber school in the Bronx say they hope to place their students a cut above the rest. Javiel Rodriguez opened the Beyond Beauty Barber Academy in Westchester Square.

Organizers behind a new master barber school in the Bronx say they hope to place their students a cut above the rest.
Javiel Rodriguez opened the Beyond Beauty Barber Academy in Westchester Square.
Rodriguez says he is a master barber with 30 years of experience in the field.
Rodriguez says he opened the academy to give young men and woman a chance to learn the trade. Completion takes about four months.
Students like Elias Salazar say the school has given them an opportunity to shape up their careers. It's the first of its kind in the borough.
Salazar says he had no ambitions before coming to the academy. Now he's a licensed barber.
