Chelsea brewing company moving to the Bronx

The Chelsea Craft Brewing Company is moving from Manhattan to the Bronx.

The new location will be nestled between Washington and Park avenues along 173rd Street.

Head brewer Mark Szmaida had been brewing beer in Chelsea for almost two decades, but high rents and short-term leases were killing his profits. He searched Brooklyn and found the same problem before deciding on the Bronx.

His new 10,000-square-foot location includes space for brewing as well as entertainment, with seating for about 100 people and a full-tap bar.

Szmaida said he expects to be open in less than a month.
