Principal with lengthy ties to BX school departs
The principal whose family ties to her Throgs Neck school date back to 1939 is leaving the building.
Carole Arbolino was once a student at St. Benedict's School, as was everyone in her father's family, she says.
Arbolino announced her departure midway through the school year in order to take a job with the city's Department of Education.
"It's like losing a mom almost, because she's always been so close to me," says Ben Piacquadio, a teacher at the school who is himself a former student.
The school's superintendent will oversee operations until officials name a replacement.
