Dogs found in dead woman's van sheltered

Multiple dogs found in a van full of trash and feces are now safe and sound, according to police.
The animals' caretaker died Wednesday, leaving the nine of them untended inside her van. Police recovered a 10th dog from inside her home.
Friends say Emalinda Narvaez passionately devoted her time to animal rescue in the Bronx.
Volunteers at Narvaez's Earth Angel Canine Rescue organization say the dogs have largely been moved to shelters in the Bronx and Long Island, with the exception of a few adopted by a Connecticut family.
It's unclear who will take control of the rescue organization, according to volunteers, but they say they will continue Narvaez's efforts in honor of her memory.
