Website tracks neighborhood shootings

A new website tracks in detail the number of shootings in neighborhoods across the country.

Thetrace.org lists the number of shootings by geographic area. Alex Yablon says the Manhattan-based website seeks to spread public awareness about gun violence.

The data is collected from the Gun Violence Archive, a nonprofit that tracks and provides free information to the public about gun violence.

The partnership allows the site to include shootings that didn't receive widespread media coverage.

It works by typing in an address of the location you want to find.
