5K runners donate goods to troops
Men and women serving in the military overseas are getting a special treat from Latinas in Motion this holiday season.
The female running group hosted its annual 5K on Sunday afternoon.
The event, which usually helps collect toys for children in need, donated goods for the troops this year.
Boxes were filled with everything from soup and snacks to toothpaste and candy.
Runners who participated in the event said that giving back for the holidays is better than receiving.
"First year we did it we had 30 people, this year we have over 200, so it's very overwhelming. I've been emotional all week long," says running leader Walesca Marmolejos. "We were very determined to be out here today and collect those items because that's what it was all about."
