A Bronx construction project that has been ongoing for years is at a halt after the contractor filed for bankruptcy.

Torn apart roads and construction detours have become the norm near Willis Avenue and East 147th Street for years, residents say. Permits were issued over the summer to a company with a posted end date of October of last year, but the project appears far from over.

The city's Department of Design and Construction says the contractor assigned to the project, Trocom Construction, has filed for bankruptcy, but that the city is working with them to try and finish the project as soon as possible.

Business owners in the area say it's all been hurting their bottom line.

News 12 contacted Trocom Construction, and it says it could not comment on the situation.
