Garbage piles return to Marble Hill Houses
The garbage problem that plagued a housing complex in the Bronx has returned, and one resident is fed up.
A resident living at the Marble Hill Houses says the garbage issue was briefly fixed after contacting News 12. However, he says the garbage is back and is piling up in stairwells and outside the complex.
The resident says the garbage piles up for days and feels it's creating a fire hazard. He says the New York City Housing Authority does send people to clear away the garbage sometimes, but not enough.
NYCHA officials released a statement saying, "All garbage bags have been picked up today. We are also working on getting an additional pick-up truck for workers to transport the garbage to its designated location."
Officials say they are aware of the ongoing issue at the complex and hope to reduce improper garbage disposal by residents.
