A 25-year-old Bronx man was crushed to death on New Year's Eve by a falling elevator in Manhattan.
Police say it happened in an apartment building on the Lower East Side. The man has been identified as Stephen Hewett-Brown.
Witnesses say Brown shoved a woman out of the way who was also about to be crushed by the elevator, but he could not save himself.
A witness told the Daily News that Brown said Happy New Year before saving the woman's life.
