Report: Complaints of homelessness skyrocketing
A new report reveals that citywide complaints about homelessness more than doubled over the last two years.
The city's 311 service received more than 29,000 complaints in 2015, up from 13,000 in 2013, according to the figures, which were first reported in the New York Post.
And between 2014 and 2015, the number of complaints about homeless encampments jumped more than 50 percent.
A spokeswoman for Mayor Bill de Blasio says the administration is encouraging people to call about homelessness as thousands of people sleep outside every night.
