No word on what will occupy closed Parkchester site

Owners and developers still have not said what will occupy a stretch of closed businesses in Parkchester.

The 310,000-square-foot space at Unionport and White Plains roads was once home to about 24 businesses. Neighbors say the businesses have been closed for close to seven months, and they have not heard what will replace them.

The property, managed by ZP Realty and owned by Pinnacle and Plymouth developers, did not respond to News 12 The Bronx's request for information on what's next for the abandoned space.

News 12 has learned that the property is zoned for both commercial and residential space. News 12 has also learned that an application with the state Department of Environmental Conservation was filed for a remedial investigation for contamination on the site.

According to a DEC report, the past commercial operations - which included two dry cleaners and a gas station - would constitute a need for the study.

The state Department of Environmental Conservation says a remedial investigation of contamination on the property should be completed by July.
