Construction is underway for a new five-story school in Soundview.
P.S. 317 is set to open in 2017 just north of the Bruckner Expressway.
Officials with the city's Department of Education say that the goal of the construction is to provide students with a state-of-the-art learning facility and combat overcrowding in District 8.
The DOE says it is working closely with the city's Department of Transportation in an effort to alleviate any traffic concerns in the area.
