Police: Fordham Prep teen struck, killed by Metro-North train
Staff and students at Fordham Preparatory School are mourning the loss of a student who jumped to his death in front of a Metro-North train in the Bronx, according to police.
Police say the 16-year-old boy, who went to the all-boys school, jumped in front of a train at the Botanical Garden's station around 3:30 p.m. just a few blocks from the school yesterday.
The incident delayed trains on the Harlem, Hudson and New Haven lines for hours.
School officials at Fordham held a staff meeting Tuesday morning, and the school had a delayed start for students.
The high school also brought in grievance counselors to help students.
The student's train-related death is the second one by a Fordham student in recent weeks.
On Jan. 18, Owen Kelly, a sophomore at Fordham Prep was killed when jumping in front of a Metro-North train in Sleepy Hollow.
