Bronx DA drops charges against 2012 murder suspect
The Bronx district attorney on Friday announced that charges were being dismissed against the suspect in a 2012 murder.
Enger Javier was arrested for the stabbing of Hansell Arias at a Claremont McDonald's restaurant.
Recently, a witness who put Javier at the scene of the crime recanted his story. And a report from the medical examiner also shows that Javier's DNA does not match samples taken from underneath the victim's fingernails.
Javier had previously been awaiting trial.
District Attorney Darcel Clark released a statement saying, "Although there was ample probable cause to arrest Mr. Enger, upon further review, I am convinced that we do not have the requisite proof beyond a reasonable doubt to prove his guilt."
