Weather Update: Wind chill advisory issued for NYC
Temperatures this weekend are expected to be below freezing with a subzero wind chill factor.
Friday night temperatures will drop to around 16 degrees, according to meteorologists, and Saturday could reach record lows with winds of 20 to 40 mph.
A wind chill advisory goes into effect at 4 p.m. Saturday and lasts until 12 p.m. on Sunday.
Forecasts show a bitterly cold Sunday with wind chill values as low as -20 to -25 degrees. Temperatures range from -5 to 5 degrees with 20 to 30 mph winds and gusts up to 45 mph.
There's a chance of snow Monday night, but that could quickly turn to sleet or rain as the system moves inland and warms up.
Highs could reach the 50s on Tuesday afternoon.
