Jacobi Medical Center rolls out 3-D printing

Doctors are using 3-D printing at Jacobi Medical Center to create prosthetic devices for the hospital's rehabilitation program.



The process creates layer upon layer of strong plastic to form a custom-made construct in between 16 and 34 hours, doctors say.



Conventional creation of prosthetics can take months, according to experts. 



And 3-D printing is also cheaper, with some pieces costing as little as $35.
