Jacobi Medical Center rolls out 3-D printing
Doctors are using 3-D printing at Jacobi Medical Center to create prosthetic devices for the hospital's rehabilitation program.
The process creates layer upon layer of strong plastic to form a custom-made construct in between 16 and 34 hours, doctors say.
Conventional creation of prosthetics can take months, according to experts.
And 3-D printing is also cheaper, with some pieces costing as little as $35.
