63-year-old bodega worker slashed in the face in the Bronx

A 63-year-old bodega worker was slashed in the face after a dispute with a customer.

It happened at the Bilal Gourmet Deli on East 170 Street on Sunday, Feb. 7 around 4 a.m.

Police say a man walked inside of the store and slashed Nagi Essmail in the forehead after a dispute about money.

Essmail says his assailant paid with $20 and demanded change for $200. When Essmail refused to give him more change, he says the man cut his face and ran away.

Essmail was transported to Bronx Lebanon Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Security video shows the suspect who police say is responsible for the attack.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
