Darcel Clark marks 2nd month as Bronx DA
Darcel Clark, a longtime prosecutor and judge, made history when she assumed the role of Bronx district attorney two months ago.
She's the first African-American woman elected to a DA's office anywhere in the state.
And she's already making changes to the office.
Assistant prosecutors are now responsible for cases from beginning to end, which is a departure from how her predecessor, Robert Johnson, handled criminal cases.
She's also scheduled weekly meetings to review pending cases in a bid to reduce the backlog bogging down Bronx courts.
And like her counterpart Ken Thompson in Brooklyn, Clark is establishing a conviction review unit.
