Residents are calling the installation of concrete medians at Westchester Square a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

The medians came about after members of Community Board 10 partnered with the Westchester Square BID and the Department of Transportation. Officials say the purpose of the medians is to define the traffic and provide a safe area for pedestrians.

Residents say it helps when crossing because now they have a safe place to stand. Drivers say it also helps them actually see where they are going.

Overall, residents say the medians are a success.
