A newly installed stop light at a Bronx intersection is causing confusion for pedestrians who want to cross the street.

The light was recently installed at West 23rd Street and Independence Avenue in Riverdale to cut down on speeders.

But, pedestrians say there's no crosswalk, and the signaling device that tells pedestrians when it is OK to walk often breaks. They say drivers also treat the secondary road more like a freeway.

To make matters worse, the intersection is located close to an elementary school, P.S. 24, and neighbors say the Department of Transportation should have put a new signaling device and crosswalk at the intersection during recent construction.

Parents say the intersection is dangerous, and since there are no markings verifying where to cross, both drivers and pedestrians are left to figure it out for themselves.
