Syringes found on youth football team field
Young football players in the Bronx say they can't get through a practice without seeing syringes or broken glass all over their field.
Bronx Steelers players say syringes, empty baggies, deep muddy ditches and broken glass are regularly found on Quarry Football Field.
The youth football team says it can't afford to fix the problems plaguing the field.
The Parks Department tells News 12 it is aware the site needs reconstruction, and says it's seeking the necessary funding to resolve the problem. The department says it cleans the area at least five times a week and plans to increase inspection of the ballfields.
The team believes a solution as simple as locking the gates at night would help.
