Students debate community issues
Black and Latino students from across New York City gathered in the Bronx Saturday to debate the most pressing issues facing their communities.
The African American Male Initiative, a nonprofit group, hosted the "Lift Every Voice" event for the fifth consecutive year. Its goal is to encourage youth to think critically about social issues and listen to other viewpoints.
The students debated many issues including police brutality, the value of hard work and gender inequality.
Event leaders say they hope these debates will help these passionate students tap into their potential.
