Man accused of detonating explosive device appears in court
The man suspected of attaching and detonating an explosive device under a car on the corner of Roberts and Mahan avenues appeared before a judge today.
Police arrested 36-year-old Richard Laugel in connection with the incident over the weekend.
He is charged with attempted murder, arson, reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon.
Police say they found two aerosol cans with detonators attached to a rental car. Only one of the devices exploded Wednesday evening.
Two people were in the car at the time, but no one was injured.
Police are calling the incident a targeted attack.
Laugel is expected back in court on March 11.
