New Metropolitan College campus nears completion

Construction is nearing completion at the Triangle Plaza Hub on 149th Street in the Hub.

The new home to the South Bronx campus of the Metropolitan College of New York is set to open in the fall.

School President Vinton Thompson says the Bronx campus currently has 125 students enrolled, and that number is expected to rise with the new space.

"We hope to serve here in about two to three years 350 students," Thompson says. "And we think we have the capacity to service 500 students."

The new campus is part of a $35 million project that began two years ago as part of an effort to bring more jobs to the area.

Thompson says he hopes the school will play a major role in job creation both directly and indirectly.
