Bronx residents enjoy warm winter weather
Bronx residents have been soaking up the sun and warm temperatures over the past few days.
Runners took to the track at Macombs Dam Park near Yankee Stadium. People ditched their heavy winter coats, opting for lighter layers.
"To get this weather, mid-70s, on a day like today -- it's absolutely beautiful," said Kerry Skeeple. "Just enjoying what's left of this beautiful weather."
Thursday's high was in the upper 70s. The warm weather has broken the record for the high at this time of year in the area. Forecasts show the low to hover around 55 after nightfall with a chance of rain.
News 12 meteorologists say the warm weather will continue into the weekend, with highs in the 60s.
Many residents also visited the New York Botanical Garden to check out the new Orchid Show. It contains thousands of different orchids from around the world.
Spring officially starts March 20.
