Police: Robber struck man with cane in his home

Police say a man pushed his way into an elderly man's Parkchester home and robbed him.

Surveillance video captured the suspect following the victim into the mail room of the building in the area of Metropolitan and Saint Raymonds avenues around 11:30 p.m. on March 9.

Once the suspect got inside the man's apartment, police say he stole $1,100.

The suspect allegedly used the elderly man's cane to hit him over the head before running away with the money.

The victim is now at Jacobi Hospital with injuries to his head.

The suspect is described as a black man who stands at 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 170 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to call 1-800-577-TIPS.
