Family, friends remember Bronx WWII vet
Family and friends of a WWII veteran honored his life Wednesday with a service at St. Francis Xavier Church.
Joseph Garofalo passed away Sunday at the age of 95. Garofalo was born in the Bronx on Nov. 15, 1920 and lived in Morris Park since the 1950s. He was an active member of the American Legion and the driving force behind the Bronx Veterans Museum.
Nicholas Dibrino, a family friend, said Garofalo was a good person and a very humble man. Garofalo's friends said he was very dedicated to honoring the memory of veterans.
He is survived by his wife, two sons and four grandchildren.
