Church celebrates Good Friday with Passion reenactment
Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church took over the streets of Little Italy Friday to celebrate Good Friday.
Many people dressed up as the apostles, Virgin Mary and Jesus as they walked through the streets of Little Italy, reenacting the Passion.
Church members walked with the actors and other participants to commemorate the important day.
"They wanted to make sure that we just don't do this inside the walls of the church but to go out and be a beacon of hope for or neighborhood. You know, our church is not something to keep hidden, but rather share with the whole community," said Father Jonathan Morris, pastor at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
The event marked the beginning of a weekend of celebrations. On Easter Sunday, the church will celebrate Mass all day in English, Spanish and Italian.
