Parents and officials in the Bronx are concerned over a trend among teenagers that could land them in trouble with the law.
Community advocate Tony Herbert is warning parents to look out for invites to "pop out" parties on their children's social media.
Herbert says the illegal parties usually involve sneaking into private property.
He says that underage drinking and drugs are also prevalent at the parties. An officer was injured by friendly fire after a shootout during a pop out party in Mott Haven this past January.
The NYPD monitors social media platforms for any illegal activity, according to a police spokesperson.
