Bronx residents brave spring showers, high winds
Rain and high winds pummeled Bronx residents during the evening commute Thursday.
People hid under their umbrellas and rain jackets, avoiding a horizontal rain that seemed to come and go in the Soundview section of the Bronx.
Sixth-grade teacher Sondra Maline was caught by surprise with no umbrella -- or even a hood.
"I have a lot of hair on my head it doesn't really matter if I get wet," she said.
But by the time she got out of class, the sun peeked out.
"After the bell rang, it suddenly was sunny," Maline told News 12. "So that was great."
But Lawrence Guess, another Bronx resident, said he nearly got drenched during his walk home.
"Luckily I had my umbrella," Guess said. "April showers bring May flowers. Spring is spring. This is what happens in New York."
Friday is expected to be cloudy early on with the sun coming out in the afternoon, according to forecasts. Highs will range from the upper-40s to low-50s.
