A Clason Point native who is already a hit on YouTube has taken the next step on her rise to fame.
Maxine Ashley, 21, recently inked a deal with hip-hop mogul Pharrell Williams. He discovered her a few years ago and the two have been in touch since, but now she has been signed to his "I Am Other Imprint" label.
Maxine Ashley says that no matter what happens, she won't forget where she came from.
"I love that I'm from the Bronx, I love that my whole family is in the Bronx," she told News 12. "I love that I've lived here all my life."
